Les 4 et 5 juin 2016, se tenait dans une petite ville du Connecticut la 20e édition du Greenwich Concours d’Élégance.
Le concours se composait cette année d’environ 10 classes dont certaines avaient les voitures disposées de façon circulaire pour un meilleur coup d’oeil. C’est au total 225 véhicules qui furent exposés durant les 2 jours de l’évènement soit 125 le samedi et 100 le dimanche malgré les mauvaises prévisions météorologiques.
Environ 9000 personnes ont visité le concours durant les 2 jours.

On 4 and 5 June 2016 in a small Connecticut town's was held the 20th annual Greenwich Concours d'Elegance.
The concours consisted this year of about 10 classes, some of which were circularly displayed cars for a better look.
This is in total 225 vehicles that were exposed during the 2-day event (125 on Saturday and 100 on Sunday) despite the bad weather forecast.
About 9,000 people visited the concours during the two days.
COMMÉMORATION VICTORIEUSE
Pour l’occasion, il y a eu une belle commémoration des 50 ans de la première victoire de Ford aux 24 heures du Mans avec la présentation d’une Ford GT 40 Mk IV 1967 et de quelques AC Cobra et de Shelby GT350/GT500 durant la journée du samedi consacrée aux voitures américaines.
La présence de la Mustang III, un protoype 2 place construit en 1963 fut remarquée.
VICTORY COMMEMORATION
For the occasion, there was a nice commemoration of 50 years of Ford's first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the presentation of a 1967
Ford GT 40 Mk IV and some AC Cobra and Shelby GT350/GT500 during the Americana day on Saturday.
A special Mustang was interesting to look at! It was the 1963 Mustang III built in 1963.
20 ANS DE "BEST OF SHOW"
Pour les 20 ans du concours, les meilleures des meilleures voitures participantes depuis le début y étaient exposées.
Le groupe des plus belles voitures américaines exposées au Concours de Greenwich recelait d’intéressantes voitures comme la Chrysler Imperial C-15 construit pour la femme du fondateur du fabricant, du très beau cabriolet créé par Ghia sur un châssis roulant de Chrysler en 1957, la Dual-Ghia D-500 et d’une Packard Panther 1954.
Autres voitures intéressantes dans cette section furent la Chrysler Ghia SWB 1952, la Corvette Rondine 1963 de Pininfarina. Elle furent à eu 2, des voitures concept exposées durant les salons automobile les plus prestigieux du monde.
20 YEARS OF "BEST OF SHOW"
For the 20 years of the competition, the best of the best participating cars from year one were exposed.
The group of the most beautiful American cars exhibited at the Greenwich Concours harbored interesting cars such as the Chrysler Imperial C-15 built for the wife of the founder of the manufacturer, the beautiful cabriolet created by Ghia on a chassis of Chrysler in 1957 and a Packard Panther.
Some other intresting cars in this class were the Chrysler Ghia SWB 1952, the Corvette Rondine 1963 by Pininfarina. Both of those 2 cars were presented at the most prestigious auto shows of the world.
VOITURES D'UNE AUTRE ÈRE
L’Americana Day vit la venue de voitures de la période d’avant 1925 souvent appelée les “brass cars”. Des vélos et mots de la même époque y furent aussi exposées. On comptait parmi les marques représentées, Anderson, Detroit Electric, Kissel, LaSalle, Locomobile, Pierce-Arrow, Rambler, DuPont, Harley-Davidson...
Les “avant guerre” y étaient très bien représentées soit avec des Packard, Cord, Chrysler, Cadillac, Studebaker, Ford, Lincoln, Peirce-Arrow et Duesemberg.
CARS FROM ANOTHER ERA
The Americana Day saw the arrival of cars of the period prior to 1925 often called the "brass cars". Bicylces and motorcycles of the era were also on display for the joy of the crowd. The other car brand presented in this class were, Anderson, Detroit Electric, Kissel, LaSalle,
Locomobile, DuPont, Pierce-Arrow, Rambler, Harley-Davidson...
The "pre-war" there were very well_represented_with Packard, Cord, Chrysler, Cadillac, Ford, Studebacker, Lincoln, Pierce-Arrow and Duesemberg.
LES ANNÉES D'EXUBÉRANCE
Les années 50 et 60 le furent tout autant étant divisés en 2 groupes.
Il y avait un bon nombre de cabriolets dans ces 2 groupes dont une Thunderbird 1957 équipé d’un siège de “belle-mère” à la manière des années 20.
La liste des autres voitures en exposition allait comme suit: Buick Roadmaster 76C 1948, Chrysler Saratoga 1952, Buick Special Riviera 1953, Mercury Monterry Sun Valley 1954, Nash Ambassador 1955, Chevrolet Belair 1955, Imperial Southampton 1956, Ford Fairlane 1957, Edsel Pacer 1958, Cadillac Eldorado Seville 1958, Plymouth Sport Fury 1959, Desoto Adventurer 1959, Cadillac Biaritz 1960, Studebaker Avanti 1962, Buick Riviera 1965.
THE EXUBERANCE YEARS
The 50s and 60s were the equally being divided into 2 groups.
There were lots of convertibles in the group 2 including a beautiful 1957 Thunderbird equipped with a rumble seat popular in the 20s.
The list of other cars in this class goes like this: Buick Roadmaster 76C 1948, Chrysler Saratoga 1952, Buick Special Riviera 1953, Mercury Monterry Sun Valley 1954, Nash Ambassador 1955, Chevrolet Belair 1955, Imperial Southampton 1956, Ford Fairlane 1957, Edsel Pacer 1958, Cadillac Eldorado Seville 1958, Plymouth Sport Fury 1959, Desoto Adventurer 1959, Cadillac Biaritz 1960, Studebaker Avanti 1962

Un groupe de véhicules que je qualifierais d’utilitaire était aussi en exposition tel qu’un Willis Overland Jeepster 1949, un Pontiac Safari 1955, le pendant du Nomad chez Pontiac.
Quelques familiales étaient en montre dans cette section dont une des 251 Chrysler Town and Country 1951 produites, une Chevrolet Belair Camper 1955, une Chevrolet Nomad 1957, une Ford Country Squire 1964, une Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser 1971.
Du côté camion, une Chevrolet 3100 demi tonne 1954 et une rare Ford Fairlane 500XL Ranchero 1967 ont participé au Concours d'Élégance.
A group of vehicles that I call “utility” was also on display, such as a Willis Overland Jeepster 1949, a Pontiac Safari 1955, the Nomad of Pontiac.
Few wagons were on display on this class like one of the 251 built Chrysler Town and Country 1951, a Chevrolet Belair Camper 1955, a Chevrolet Nomad 1957, a Ford Country Squire 1964, a Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser 1971.
For the pickups, a Chevrolet 3100 half ton 1954 and a rare Ford Fairlane 500XL Ranchero_1967 have been participating at the Concours.
Les Corvette y étaient bien représentées avec une coupé 1963 rouge à l’intérieur rouge sans oublier la fameuse vitre arrière divisée en 2 partie ainsi qu’une très bruyante Corvette L88 Racer ayant couru aux 24 heures de Daytona et aux 12 heures de Sebring en 1968.
2 Corvette rehaussées par Callaway brillaient par leur présences avec leurs imposant capot ouvert soit les Callaway Corvette Supernatural 1990 et la spectaculaire Callaway Corvette 50th anniversary edition 2003.
The Corvette were well represented with a red 1963 coupe Sting Ray with its traditional rear split window, red interior and a very noisy Corvette that raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1968.
2 Corvettes updated by Callaway were shining by the presence and their open hoods. The 1990 Callaway Corvette Supernatural and the spectacular 2003 Callaway Corvette 50th anniversary edition.
DU MUSCLE À REVENDRE
La période des “muscle car” y était bien représentée avec une Chevelle SS 454 1970 trafiqué par Motion Baldwin et une rare Dodge Charge Super Bee 1971 au moteur Hemi considéré comme une pièce rare parce que fabriqué en seulement 9 exemplaires.
Les Pontiac GTO 1964, Chevrolet Malibu SS 396 Z16 1965, Oldsmobile 442 1967, AMC AMX 1968, Ford LTD 1968 4 portes à moteur 428, Chevelle SS 1969, Plymouth Road Runner 1969, Pontiac GTO 1969, Dodge Super Bee 1969, Dodge Challenger 1971 complétèrent le plateau d'exposition des "muscle cars".
POWERFUL MUSCLE MACHINES
The period of "muscle car" was well represented with a 1970 Chevelle SS 454, a special creation by Motion Baldwin and a rare Dodge Charger Super Bee 1971 Hemi engine considered a rare piece because it was produced in only 9 units.
The Pontiac GTO 1964, Chevrolet Malibu SS 396 Z16 1965, Oldsmobile 442 1967, AMC AMX 1968, Ford LTD 1968 4 doors with a 428 CID engine, Chevelle SS 1969, Plymouth Road Runner 1969, Pontiac GTO 1969, Dodge Super Bee 1969, Dodge Challenger 1971 completed the "muscle car" display.
COURBES EXOTIQUES
Un groupe fut constitué de voitures exotiques de provenance européennes. On pouvait y voir de très beaux exemplaires de la Porsche 918 2015 de couleur noire, une McLaren P1 2014 d’un bleu métallique foncé et d’une Pagani Huayra 2014 au fini fibre de carbone teinté en rouge foncé.
Se joignit à ce groupe sélecte d'exotiques, les Sensuale Super Spuder circa 1990, DeTomaso Mangusta 1968, Maserati Bora 1977, Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato 1987, Maserati C12 2005, Porsche Carrera GT 2005, Ferrari F430 Scuderia 2009, Mercedes-Benz SL 65 Black Series 2009 au moteur V12 bi-Turbo, Audi R8 GT 2012, Aston Martin V12 Zagato Coupe 2013.
EXOTIC CURVES
One group was made up of exotic cars of European origin. You could see some beautiful exemples like a Porsche 918 black painted, a McLaren P1 dark metallic blue and a Pagani finished in tinted carbon fiber dark red.
Selected cars joined this group of exotics, the circa 1965 Sensuale Super Spuder, 1968 DeTomaso Mangusta, 1977 Maserati Bora, 1987 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato, 2005 Maserati C12, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, 2009 Ferrari F430 Scuderia, 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 Black Series with V12 bi-Turbo engine, 2012 Audi R8 GT, 2013 Aston Martin V12 Zagato Coupe.
LA PLUS BELLE DU JOUR EST...
Le véhicule gagnant du prix “Best of show” de la journée américaine, fut la Studebaker President sedan convertible 1932, propriété de George A. Vassos.
